Help
connectMate keeps records in sync between Airtable, Webflow and Google Sheets — one way or both ways, without code.
Getting started
Four steps from nothing to your first sync — about five minutes.
- Create your accountSign up — or install connectMate from the Webflow Marketplace, which connects your Webflow account as you sign up.
- Connect the other appOn Settings, press Add account and choose Airtable (or Google Sheets).
- Make a connectionPress New connection, choose the source and the destination, and check the field mapping.
- Run the first syncPress Full sync. After that, turn on Instant sync and changes sync on their own.
Connecting your accounts
On Settings, press Add account and choose an app. Sign in when asked (Connect with Webflow, Connect with Airtable, Google), or paste an API token. You can connect several accounts per app — each side of a connection uses one.
- Test
- Checks the account still works and what it can reach.
- Reconnect
- Renews the sign-in, or grants a permission added later.
- Remove
- Only for accounts no connection uses — otherwise it lists the connections to move first.
Creating a connection
- Source & destination
- The app, the account, and where — a base and table, a site and collection, or a spreadsheet and sheet.
- Field mapping
- Which field goes to which. Fields with the same names are matched for you; change any, or choose “Don’t sync this field”.
- Direction
- One-way copies the source to the destination. Two-way also brings changes made in the destination back.
- Same field changed on both sides
- This setting decides which version is kept; the other is listed under “Changed on both sides”, so nothing is lost.
How syncing works
- Sync changes
- Only records changed since the last sync — quick.
- Full sync
- Checks every record — slower; also applies deletions and adds new items from the other side.
- Pause syncing
- Stops everything for the connection — schedule and instant sync included — until you resume.
- Stop sync
- Ends a sync in progress after the current batch. Nothing is left half-written.
The Overview tab shows the latest sync, its progress and what it changed; Activity lists everything that happened.
Instant sync
Turn it on under connection → Settings → Automatic syncing. Airtable and Webflow then tell connectMate about each change, and just those records sync within seconds — in both directions on a two-way connection.
New items added in Webflow arrive within about a minute (connectMate waits a moment so it never copies back an item it just made).
Rich text and images
Rich text keeps its formatting both ways: headings, bold, italic, links and lists. Image and file fields sync both ways too — when only some images change, the others are kept as they are.
To let Airtable’s text replace Webflow’s completely, choose Replace everything under Field mapping → Images in rich text.
Deleting
Under connection → Settings → Deleting, choose what happens on the other side when a record is deleted:
- Leave it
- Nothing is removed (the default).
- Archive it
- Webflow only: hidden from the site, still recoverable.
- Delete it
- Removed on the other side too.
With instant sync on, deletions apply within seconds; otherwise during a full sync.
Data check
Check now on the Overview reads both apps and compares them record by record, without changing anything. Show differences lists what differs.
- Fix differencesOn a two-way connection it first syncs both ways — so edits made in either app are kept — then checks again.
- OverwriteIf anything still differs, this copies the source’s values for those records.
Failed records
When an app rejects a record — for example an invalid email address — it appears under Failed records with the reason.
- Compare
- What would be sent, next to what the other app has now.
- Try again
- After fixing the value at the source. The next sync also retries it.
